I want to start clear aligner treatment. What is involved?
Watagan Dental offers clear aligners to get your teeth straightened. If you are a candidate, we will do an orthodontic assessment and 3D scan of the inside of your mouth; then send out for x-rays. Based on this information we can plan out the best treatment options for you. We will create a simulation that will demonstrate the treatment process and give you a glimpse into what your beautiful smile will look like at the end of treatment.
Once you are happy, we can then start your treatment. Each aligner is designed to move your teeth gently into a new position. You will get to use dental monitoring. Dental monitoring is a phone application our dentists use to monitor your progress weekly and advise when to change to your next aligner from the comfort of your own home.
Spark and Invisalign works for Kids
The popularity of clear aligners is on the rise. The Australian Society of Orthodontists recommends you take your child for an orthodontic check-up around the age of seven or eight. Bringing them to see our dentists for a routine dental check-up consultation is enough for us to advise whether early intervention treatment is required. Invisalign and more recently Spark have helped to provide a more comfortable and accepted option for tooth correction in younger kids.
Young kids tend to be more physically active or accident-prone. If they require early treatment aligners can be worn while playing sports without the risk of injuring their lips and cheeks. Do I need retainers after Invisalign or Spark treatments?
Teeth move, which is why we can straighten teeth with traditional braces or aligners. To help your teeth maintain their new position retainers will be required. After your teeth have finished moving retainers will be provided to maintain your beautiful smile. There are two types of retainer. A fixed retainer and removable retainer. Fixed retainers are glued behind your teeth and cannot be removed. Removable retainers are required to be worn at night.
At Watagan Dental you will have retainers included in your treatment cost. You will receive both fixed and removable retainers to help maintain your straight teeth once treatment is complete. If you lose or break your retainers you can always get a new set made for a cost. If you have any questions about retainers you can always ask at your consultation appointment.
